The future of Warriors of Faith

So folks heres where things are.

Warriors of Faith was first created over 10 years ago in Everquest.
The day after the Magtheridon server went live, I created Warriors of Faith.  We've been through many incarnations over the years, including about a two year period of inactivity.
A little over a year ago, Axul(scott) convinced Kozmonot(Bob) to come back to the game.  The two of them convinced Me to come back to the game.  They left the guild they were in, Stratageme, and the three of us began the rebuilding process for Warriors of Faith.

The original Idea that scott, Bob, and I had was that the three of us would be in Warriors of Faith and would just all pug raids once or twice a week.  Slowly however as we grew with more and more members, it became aparent that we should be the ones leading raids, and pugging other people.

So over the last year Bob and I have been working our assess off to recruit, regear, level up, and get ready for raids.   Once we hit level 80, we began running heroics every day, all day.  We learned those dungeons inside and out, eeked every peice of gear out of every boss, and then when the time was right we finally stepped into nax, 7 warriors of Faith and 3 pugs.  We spent the whole night the first night getting spider wing down.

Slowly over time we continued to build our players, and build our own gear and skill.

The height of WoF came a few months ago, we were clearing 25m nax in two nights.  I still yelled that we needed to 1 night clear and then move to Ulduar.

Then about a month ago I got married.  I needed about 2 weeks off for the marriage and honey moon.   This coincided with Bob taking a few days to come down for the wedding, then immediately after going down south for a week.

What happend was we learned that if Bob or I didn't organize a raid, it didn't happen.  So warriors of faith went two weeks or more with no raids.  We started bleeding members and bleeding them hard.

Every time we would recruit 2 new people with fresh level 80 blues and greens, one of our fully geared people would leave.  Suddenly we couldn't do 25m nax anymore.  Shit most nights it was a struggle to get 10 people together.

Now we have veterans leaving because they don't want to struggle through a rebuilding process... wiping on pulls in spider wing or trash mobs that we should be breezing through.

So a week ago I decide that I'm done with nax.  From here out anyone naxx geared that wants to run nax can either pug, or we can let other members take them.  Some people tried, and failed.  We lost more members.

Sanctys decides he can barely afford to eat, so he cancells his wow account.   Axul has a new girlfriend so he's only logging on at 730 tuesdays and thursdays, if nothings happening he logs out.  Cabrina, while dedicated as hell, has to log early for work.  Treznor also has work concerns, and while he's on more then most, is having no luck organizing raids.

It all comes back to Bob and I are the only ones who get raids going.  I get burnt out, bad...  Bob and I spend hours on the phone talking about things.  I go to bed one night, the next morning I wake up and find out that Bob has transfered kozmonot BACK to his original server to play with his brother again.

So there it is folks,  Rhev is now the only effective raid leader in the guild.

And I don't think its going to happen...  Is warriors of faith spiriling the drain ready to sink?
Yes and no.
I think we can say that its probably an end to the days of organized nightly raids that are led by our two main guild leaders safely.
Yet at the same time, no.  Warriors of Faith will still be around.  If people want to move on and go find a new guild, more power to you.  If you want to hang out and have a guild, cool.

Maybe we will step things back up in a little while, and maybe we won't... it's just not known right now

Feel free to stay in the guild as long as you want, we will always be here, and if raiding is something you need to do, feel free to move on, no hard feelings.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
I wish I could help more, but I highly doubt anyone would want someone who's raiding a night a week with any kind of power.  That being said, if we make it a guild rule that we raid two nights a week, say tues/thurs, that should cut back on burnout, and hopefully raid attendance.

Make Tuesday progression night and Thursday Naxx night?  Start it off in 10man if we have to, and stick with 10 man if need be.

Sadly, either way we slice it, we are still down 2 core raiders.

Edit: I have a longer list that I came up with after mulling over the topic with a few people:
  • With over 200 members, let whoever wants to leave go. Roster is HUGE (not all raiders though) anyways.
  • Get rid of members the leaders don't like.  I know they exist.  Kick me if you have too (assholes).
  • Have members call to arms.  Friends, in-game friends, alts, to fill in spots as PUGS or new members.
  • Re-roll your main.  I am hard at work on leveling my priest (got a level since the announcement) so I can fill in the healing hole left by two members.  Although I love and enjoy my rogue, I enjoy raiding much more than not raiding.  Of course, I will need to gear up, who's in for heroics!?
  • Go back to 10-man raiding, two nights a week.  Hopefully we can fill it, and not have any burnout.  We are mainly a immature, mature guild who have families, jobs, or too may pets.  It may suck to do half clears right now, but once a core group is put back together, Naxx will easily be doable in a night, or we can screw it and focus on Ulduar sicne 3.2 will make Naxx loot EZMode with emblem changes.

Edit: I blame Summer.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
All of this being said, here is what I would like to see:

Going forward if we do not have enough ppl for 25M Naxx on Tuesday , we attempt 10M Ulduar with our 'Core' group.  This would assume that we have someone willing to lead it, and the ppl to do it.  It was only recently I had hoped we could have enough experienced, geared ppl to field 2 10M Ulduar groups.  This would be similar to how we used to run 2 10M Naxx groups.

As a guild, we have been through our share of trials in the past and I have no doubt that we will come through this as well.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
Yeah, really sorry guys, but I'm looking out for #1 here. I'm starting back my 10-12 hour work days to pull in overtime just so I can dig myself out of a financial hole. What seems to be a small $14.99/mo for WoW just doesn't fit into my budget.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
I want to thank all the guys who helped me learn how to tank these last couple of months. Think the only thing I am pist about is no one said good bye when they xfered servers. I felt we all close to each other who raided together. We spent many late nites together sometimes up to 4am like I am now for some reason lol. If any are interested in raiding with some of core members who still want to raid please send me or Zorbin a tell in Game.

I will miss WOF cause they reminded me of my orginal guild on my old server. Good luck to everyone in the game.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
Just to be clear, Kozmonot is the only one who server xfered.

The other 3 guild leaders all have their own issues, as explained above.

If you are still looking for an MMO fix for the little freetime it seems like you will have, may I suggest Runes of Magic.  I play on the PvP servers as a female human rogue named SolidSamantha (creative I know).  That being sad, don't get hooked because we want you back when everything in the fleshy world is back in order!

I know you are extending an olive branch, and I thank you for that, but can you not try to snap up the members just yet?  We are going to attempt to pull thru this.

Even if it kills Rhev.

I gave it a little thought before responding, but I liked what you had to say there.

Re: The future of Warriors of Faith
I liked the blog as well. One of the things that happened during your marriage absence was that noone bothered to log on. We did a 25 man naxx, then 8 ppl logged on the next day, got a 10m naxx done, then 10 ppl logged on the next day and were mostly not geared for Ulduar. So now no raids, then ppl who were not logged on when we raid started bitching. It just spiraled down from there.
